The school house was then closed, but the outstanding location overlooking the stunning landscape of vineyards and olive groves of the Douro Valley kept our interest in rebuilding this place so filled with history.
The owners of the property, a French family with a passion for Portugal, which believes in the tourist potential of the Douro Valley, faced the challenge of the project with the firm belief that the soul of this house had to be returned to its place.
For the architectural features so representative of Portuguese countryside elementary schools and the historic value, the school house is considered a Building of Cultural Interest of the Municipality.
